MESA N. Globalización, antiglobalización, historia Glen David Kuecker (DePauw University, Greencastle, Indiana, USA) Abstract This paper places the historical problem of continuity and change as central to our thinking about a history of the present. It asks if we currently live in a watershed moment in history by examining the macro economics of globalization, the domains of late capitalism, and how a new form of resistance is coming into formation. The paper argues that a new form of citizenship is in formation, one that constitutes a significant departure from modern constructions of citizenship. The paper uses specific cases from Latin America, looking at citizenship formation in the Zapatista rebellion in Chiapas and in transnational migration from Latin America to the United States.
