THE PARADIGM OF "PAX ROMANA" AND THE CONCEPT OF "NEW ORDER"

The paper discusses the concept of "New order" in the light of an analogy with the old paradigm of "Pax Romana" and proposes the ideatification of "New Order" with "Pax Americana". The paper contains five sections. In Argument Author demonstrates the possibility for the hístorian to deal wlth the future starting from the analysis of the present and using analogies with the past. In A specimen of prediction in the historical present based on the historical past are analysed historical circumstances of beneficial interventions of USA in Europe during two World Wars and in the cold war led by Soviet Union until 1989. In Fax Americana and the syndrome of "efficient immunitytt" are explored probable causes of weakness of the "New Order" in the next century. In The globalization in the making and the prospects of a universal peace the concept of superstate is described as a step towards political globalization which may stregthen or, on the contrary, weaken the eventual chances of Pax Americana to shape a new order. The last section of the paper. Pax Americana under debate in the next century author presents alternatives to eventual incentives for troubles or acts of violence during a period of long lasting peace with universal dimensions.
